I want to thank YOU for being the best part of Teardrops Publishing!!
MOCHA CITY CAFE' & BOOKS ©™
1) Where are you from? I am a native Oklahoman residing in Tulsa.
2) Tell us your latest news? My latest news is that I’m looking forward to birthing my first written baby, and awaiting the birth of my second grandbaby, both to drop in April.
3) When and why did you begin writing? I began writing at a very young age, but became more serious about it in my later years as I’ve had more life experiences, challenges, fun and exciting things to write about. You live you learn, you write, at least for me and in that order. LOL
4) What inspired you to pen your first book? Being that my first book is a memoir about my life and what I went through when my mom passed, and being that we were at odds with each other during her time of passing, I found that; while sharing my story with others there are many mother/daughters who are or have either found themselves in this same position. My desire was to reach those mother/daughters by sharing my/our experience with them in hopes of helping then to fix things in which we think are unfixable before one is lying on their deathbed.
5) How has your environment/upbringing colored your writing? OMG for my first book my environment and upbringing influenced a lot if not, most of my writing. It gave me the foundation for this book. It’s the things I’ve gone through that has made me who I am today, so I’d say it had a lot to do with my writing for this particular book.
6) How did you come up with the title for your book(s)? My mom passed away 3 years ago and sadly she and I weren’t speaking at the time of her death. We didn’t get that opportunity to mend things, to say I love you; I forgive you, its okay, so thus you have the title for this book “When She Left and It Wasn’t Right.”
7) Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp? Yes, and that message is to both mothers and daughters. To mothers I’d like for them to grasp the concept that No, we aren’t always right and quite honestly we are sometimes dead wrong and we have to learn how to be not just woman enough, but big enough to be willing to go to our daughters and say “Hey I’m sorry, I was wrong.” To daughters the message I’d like to convey is this, sometimes you will have to bite the bullet and be the bigger person and just agree to disagree and in doing so, that may mean loving from afar, but staying in touch. As much as it may hurt sometimes we must do that in order to protect our hearts. It’s okay to love from afar, just never stop loving. Overall the message I’d love for all my readers to get is this “Don’t wait to try and fix something that you both thought was unfixable, because there is nothing worse than trying to fix those things while one is lying on their death bed. Do all you can, while you can, so that when that time comes, you both will be at peace.
8) How much of the book is realistic? This book is about my life and I was as transparent as scotch tape, so you are reading the absolute truth of events that happened and unfolded in my life from beginning to end.
9) What are you reading now? At the moment I’m not reading anything, but some of the books that I have read include Kimberly Lawson Roby’s books entitled “To0 Much of A Good Thing, Casting the First Stone, Changing Faces and the book by Sharon Rocha entitled “For Lacy” one of my favorites.
10) What are your current projects? I am currently working on two other books, which I hope to release in the coming year. One is a self-help book for women and the other is a book addressing the letting go of the apron string when a son marries. I’m also in the process of working on putting together my talk show entitled “Real Talk with MzV”
11) How do your family and/or friends feel about your book or writing venture in general? My husband and children as well as many friends have been very supportive of me in this venture. Many of my friends were and are even now in similar situations as are found in the book and they encouraged me to put my feelings down on paper.
12) Is there anything additional you would like to share with your readers? To my readers, I hope that this will only be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between you and I. My desire is to touch lives, to motivate and stir up gifts that are inside of us all. I also hope that through my writings, I will cause you to think and change those things in life which you can change and learn how to let go and be okay with those things that you can’t. We all have a story to tell and if that story will make one a better person, make them change in a positive way or just make one identify with the writer, letting them know that hey I’m not crazy, there are others who are going through some of the things I’ve gone through. Put it down on paper and write about it. You never know the lives you may touch. Live, Love, laugh and forgive, but never forget. The not forgetting will insure that you don’t revisit those places and things that have caused you pain and hurt you.
God Bless

BIO
Some people thnk that the worst thing in life is growing up without a father, but for some, it's growing up searching for love, some validation, that assurance that you matter, that you're someone special, from the one person that's residing with you in the same house. Your Mother.
Don't wait till a loved one is on their death bed to try and fix what you both thought was unfixable. Do all you can, while you can. So that you both can be at peace when time comes.
MzV is a self acclaimed author, who along with her husband, 3 adult children and 2 grandkids riside in Oklahoma.
